Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units contain refrigerant that federal law (EPA Section 608 of the Clean Air Act) requires be properly recovered before the appliance is disposed of or scrapped, it cannot just go straight to a metal recycler as-is. We route these appliances to a facility equipped to handle that recovery correctly rather than skipping the step, and disassemble or maneuver larger units like washers and dryers out of tight laundry closets without damaging the surrounding walls.
🤔 Donate It or Call for Removal?
Donation is worth trying first if a piece of furniture or a working appliance is clean and in good condition, since most donation centers won’t accept stained, torn, or non-functional items. If it doesn’t qualify, or the donation center’s pickup window doesn’t fit your schedule, removal costs a bit more but guarantees it’s gone on your timeline regardless of condition. We still route anything donatable to a local center first when we can.

Most requests placed before 10 AM on a weekday can get a same-day pickup window, and everything else defaults to next-day service. That timing works well if a delivery truck is dropping off a new appliance the same day the old one needs to leave.

Usable furniture and working appliances are routed to local donation centers first. Metal, glass, and plastic components from appliances are separated for recycling, and refrigerant-containing units go through proper recovery before anything is scrapped. Only what genuinely cannot be reused or recycled goes to a licensed disposal facility.
